That’s a Wrap: Our First MWRL Season
That’s another season over, and what a season it’s been! 2026 was our first year in the Manchester Women’s Rounders League (MWRL). We finished 7th out of 12 teams, which we’re really proud of for a club that only started in Stamford Park in May 2025.
Our first league season
Joining the MWRL was a big step for us. We played teams from across Greater Manchester at Turn Moss in Stretford, including Prestwich, Stretford, Swinton, Stockport, Sale, Urmston, Rusholme, Didsbury and Chorlton. We had some amazing matches, lots of close finishes and plenty of moments we’ll be talking about all winter.
A huge thank you to everyone who played, came to cheer, or gave someone a lift to Turn Moss. And thank you to the other teams for being so welcoming to a brand-new club.
End-of-season tournament
We finished the summer by playing in the end-of-season tournament: a full day of rounders, and a brilliant way to wrap up our first year in the league.
Training every Thursday
League matches are only part of what we do. Week in, week out, Thursday nights in Stamford Park have been the heart of the club. We’ve had some great training sessions, welcomed lots of new faces and watched everyone’s batting, bowling and fielding come on loads. Some people came for the league, some come just for training and the fun, and both are equally part of the club.
Super socials
And of course there have been the socials. From drinks after training to nights out together, they’re a big part of why people keep coming back. Lots of us joined not knowing anyone and now have a whole team of friends.
What’s next?
Over the winter (November to April) we train indoors at a local venue. Drop us a message to check where and when. Then we’ll be back in Stamford Park in the spring and ready for season two in the MWRL.
Fancy joining us? You don’t need any experience. Just come along on a Thursday at 6:30pm. It’s £3 a session and your first session is free. Find out more on our training page or read about league play.
